Oh my gosh….I feel like it has been forever since I have written a blog post about the current fashion trends. I have been trying to build the anticipation (not really….but we can pretend) for one of my favorite trends to date. It is a blast from the past, but it is oh-so-good! Ok…..let’s dive into animal prints. Lions..and tigers….and bears…oh my! Just kidding, it’s more like cheetahs…and leopards…and zebras..oh my.

Tops, skirts, pants, bags, hats, scarves, boots……….you probably can see where I am going with this. This trend can literally be found everywhere, but it can be difficult to style and can easily look gaudy. Check out my top three tips on how to style animal print…… without overdoing it.

  1. Keep it simple- Animal print is a lot for the eye to handle. I usually pair it with a simple outfit. In the photos above, I chose to were a pair of Levis and a mock neck bodysuit. I know that mixing prints is in, but with this trend it is best to let it be the star of the show.
  2. Keep it casual- It’s important to wear a causal outfit while rocking your fave animal print. If you try make it too dressy, you take the risk of looking cheesy or gaudy. For those of you animal print newbies, this tip is for you. Keep is super casual and as you get more comfortable add in an extra something.
  3. Keep it oversized (for the most part)- This does not mean buy the item 2 sizes bigger, but it does mean go for a looser fitting item. It is so hot right now to pair a loose item with a tighter fitting one. For example, wear a loose fitting (oversized) snake skin blouse tucked into a tight pair of high rise jeans or a tee shirt paired with a flowy midi leopard print skirt.

Animal print is such a fun way to add prints into your wardrobe. It will automatically make your look a showstopper. This trend can definitely be a lot to swallow at first, but you will be a master in no time. Remember, there is an obscene amount of options with animal print, you just need to find which one works for you.
